At Nigel Jeffries Landscapes we value the importance of regular training for our staff. Recently some of our team attended an in-company ROLO course.
The Rolo Scheme (Register of Land-based Operatives) was introduced to raise the standards of Health and Safety and reduce the risks and accidents throughout the industry for anyone who works in the Land based Sectors. It also encourages employers to keep a record of workers in the Land based industry who have achieved a recognised level of competence.
The main objectives are to:
- Increase operatives’ awareness of health and safety issues in the landscaping industry
- Provide the core knowledge required to enter the Register
- Enable operatives to identify and resolve a range of health and safety issues
The course was well received by the attendees. Topics covered included Health & Safety legislation, COSHH, Risk Assessments, Manual Handling, Environmental issues, Hand/Arm Vibration and Working at Heights.
Other courses that we run cover single issue topics such as Manual Handling where particular issues can be discussed in more detail.
At the end of the ROLO course there was an exam. We are pleased to say that all of our staff passed with flying colours!
